The Geek Club 2.0 MMXI

It's just what it sounds like, a bunch of geeks get together and have geektastic adventures, play games, write stories, solve improbable problems, juggle various objects (including kittens), play impractical jokes, make movies, learn important geeking skills, do stage combat, study why the meaning of life is "42", take vocabulary quizzes, watch movies, create cool stuff, and ocassionally save the world from interstellar threats to the space-time continuum. Most imporatantly it gives us all a place to fit in and spend a Tuesday afternoon. If all this sounds cool to you stop by Mr. Andree's room any Tuesday (be you geek or of the "normal" persuasion).

Doctor Who: Weeping Angel downloadable Mask!

One of the Geek Clubs most favorite and terrifying meeting was watching a Doctor Who episode entitled: Blink featuring the Weeping Angels.The weeping angels were a group of statue-like creatures that "killed" their victims by sending them backwards through time to live out their lives before their birth. The angels would freeze into stone if they were seen, but between blinks or in darkness, they could move extremely quickly to their victims. To prevent looking at each other, the angels would shield their eyes, giving the appearance that they were weeping. The heroes of the episode had to avoid the angels by taking the advice of the Doctor and always keeping an eye on the villains, never blinking.

And at the end of the episode, as if to guarantee no one could comfortably turn their back on a statue ever again, the episode closed with this warning:

Founder and CSO Jake Nickell and friend Jacob DeHart created Threadless, an ongoing open call for tee shirt design submissions, as a way to "give back" to the community by actually creating products featuring the work created by participating artists.

J!nx World

Clothing inspired by video games and geek culture. J!nx makes some of the best official geek wear in the realm from Dungeons & Dragons to World of Warcraft. Call of Duty? Diablo? Zombies, Vampires, Classic Video Games? The gear is all here.

Blik

Need some gigantic wall graphics (from Super Mario, Tron, and Classic Video Games, to the cooest abstract designs, and Threadless prints from their classic shirts) -- removable super stickers to geek up your room? Then Blik is the place to visit.

One night while Scott Flora, an architect extraordinaire, and food writer Jerinne Neils, were debating whether to paint or wallpaper their walls, they realized that neither option was really what they wanted. Looking to end the tyranny of limited options, they decided to do something about it. And that something was Blik. Soon, the oppression was lifted, and people were liberated to try something unique, different, and a lot less permanent.

Maniac Fights Chicken!

Our faculty advisor Mr. Andree wrestles a geek in a chicken suit. Did you know that the term "geek" is actually from a time when freak shows featured people who would bite the heads off of live snakes, fish, and chickens as onlookers looked on astonished. That person was called the geek (no relation to our club in any way).

Fool Builds Fantasy Pirate

Paradise in Backyard

Poor fool (pictured above) carts 6000 lbs of sand from driveway delivery to build desert island in the middle of a sea of lawn in order to complement a pirate ship that will never sail.
