Celebrating International Talk Like A Pirate Day at ORRJHS
Interdisciplinary planning and fun is a big part of ORRJHS, and Talk Like A Pirate Day gave us a chance as a team to teach our curriculum in a framework that was fun, ridiculous, and got students excited about being in school. In Math and Science students built cannons to sink a pirate ship using: trajectory, angles, speed, elevation, distance, Newton's 3rd Law of Motion, chemical reactions with water and Alka Seltzer, then used variables and controls to design their experiment on how best to sink a pirate ship.
