Current in the Classroom: Poetica Dramatica
Over the course of 14 classes precision poetry drill teams will be picked, then poems chosen, re-arranged, memorized, choreographed, and performed. Teams will incorporate solos, unison lines, body strikes, choreography, dynamics, and tempo changes. Do not mistake this for a poetry reading -- teams will transform their poems into performance pieces. It's more like a concert than a reading: loud, energized teams performing poetry with a focus on the sound and rhythm of their pieces. This unit can be transformative for students understanding of poetry and themselves. Daily Unit Lesson Plans, Handouts, Videos, Audio, etc. (for the curious, and the absent)
